Finding A Wedding Dress In The North

Not everyone has the luxury of shopping for their vintage wedding dresses in an upscale boutique, flattered and pampered by friends and admiring salespeople. You think trying to find a parking place within a mile of that chic downtown salon is tough?

Read what former bride Lisa Haines (now Mrs. Haines-Betteinger) wrote:"Sherry at was my internet savior! I am in the army, and at the time that I was trying to put my wedding together, I was stationed in North Pole, Alaska."Let's all stop for a moment and imagine that, shall we? First thought: Would an army-issue parka make me look fat? Second thought: The North flippin' Pole!! Third Thought: I hope Lisa honeymooned on a tropical islandâEUR¦and took plenty of sunscreen.

Now back to our story:"Not only did Sherry give me prompt responses, she also went the extra mile (how far is it to the North Pole, anyway?) and got my dress dyed the specific color I needed. (Something that coordinates with Santa's elves?) "And she kept me informed of everything. This was the first time I have ever ordered anything over the internet, and Sherry was so helpful.

She gave me a sense of true customer service. I would order from her again in a second."All kidding aside: Lisa, we are thrilled that The Red Dress, believes in good, old-fashioned customer service, and that she was able to help you get exactly what you envisioned for your special day. We're also thankful to you and your colleagues in the armed services, who do the tough jobs and go to the challenging places so we don't have to.

Long summer dresses for juniors

Don't let the extra coverage and flowy comfort of long summer dresses, like this Empire-Waist Halter Dress from Gap, make you think it's good for any body type. It's not. Frankly, I think this is another one of those summer styles that only looks good on long and lanky model bodies (bless you if you have one; I do not).

I keep seeing these long, cotton, and comfy-looking summer dresses in all the stores. Their flowing, somewhat shapelessness draws me in, but I have to beware. This is the worst look for my body. I have hips, breasts, and a very short waist, and I'm only 5' 1". So when I put this style of dress on, I am immediately happy with its comfort, but when I look in the mirror, I look about 4' 1".

I don't know about you, but the fashion world is very good at tricking me. I like to think "empire waists" will help camouflage my not-flat belly. But it's quite the opposite. It's much better when I wear clothes that create a waistline than take my already-short waistline and make it invisible.

What do you think about this long summer dress style? Can you wear it?
